How this calculator works

The four operation keys work like a simple calculator, from left to right. Equals remembers the last operation: 0 + 1 = 1, then = 2, then = 3. A new number after an answer starts a fresh calculation.

In a club, n is the input. The formula uses that n; another equals increases n by one. You can also type a new n and press equals. Clubs build with whole numbers starting at zero. Ordinary calculations include negative numbers, decimals and fractions.

Small quantities use individual blocks. Larger quantities stay as block constructions, fitted to the picture. Use Zoom in to explore and Fit to see the whole shape. Grid labels tell you when a visible cell represents a group of units. A picture of a cube shows its outside faces; its volume also includes the hidden blocks. An approximation is marked โ‰ˆ, with the exact fraction shown alongside it.

Keyboard: digits, +, โˆ’, *, /, decimal point, Enter or =, Backspace and Escape. This calculator does not save learner scores or claim mastery.
